Privacy Policy — DeepTrack

Last updated: May 16, 2026

DeepTrack is a Chrome extension that helps you understand how you spend your browsing time. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.

TL;DR

What data DeepTrack collects

For each browsing event the extension records:

DeepTrack also stores your settings (custom category patterns, pause state, live session metadata) using chrome.storage.

How the data is used

The data is used only to render statistics inside the extension’s popup and dashboard — for example:

What DeepTrack does not do

Permissions

DeepTrack requests the minimum permissions required to function:

Permission Why
tabs Read the URL and title of the active tab to know which site you are on.
activeTab Operate on the currently active tab.
webNavigation Detect when navigation completes inside a tab.
idle Pause tracking when you step away from the computer.
storage Save settings and live session state.
alarms Trigger the 90-day auto-purge of old events.

Data retention

Events older than 90 days are automatically deleted by a scheduled task that runs inside the extension. You can also wipe data manually by uninstalling DeepTrack or removing the browser’s site data for the extension.

Children

DeepTrack is not designed for or directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected in the extension and on this page with an updated date at the top.
